Stockton got off to a slow start by winning just one of its first five games, a 12-1 rout of Alvernia in the season opener. However, the Ospreys went on to finish the season by winning six of their last eight games to end the year with a winning record overall and in the conference. Stockton won road games at Neumann, Manhattanville and Centenary during the span, while registering home wins versus Maritime, Mount St. Vincent and Farmingdale State. A pair of conference losses against 10th-ranked Stevens (the eventual Skyline conference regular season champ) and Kean left Stockton at 6-6 entering its final contest with a chance to get over .500. In the season finale, a 13-7 victory over conference foe Centenary brought the regular season to a close with a 7-6 mark. At 5-4 in league games, the Ospreys tied Kean for fourth place in the Skyline Conference. By virtue of Kean’s 14-12 win over the Ospreys, Kean won the tiebreaker and earned the league tournament berth.
Another sophomore, Steve Mazurek, paced the Ospreys with 34 goals and finished second on the team with 46 points. Freshman Josh Dybus finished third on the team in scoring with 31 points (23g, 8a) and also was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week once during the season. Senior goalkeeper Ryota Ishikawa notched a .468 save percentage and a 9.20 goals against average in 13 games played. |
