| 11/22/02- Scafidi Completes Season
|
| Nick completed the soccer season on 11/16. Although he developed
some lateral pain toward the end of the season he never experienced
any inflammation or loss of motion. Nick also didn't miss any participation
time due to his knee injury since he returned to full competition.
He will continue a strengthening program on his own for his knee
during the off season. |

| 10/28/02- Scafidi Remains Problem Free |
Nick
has been playing without limitations regarding his knee surgery.
He has reported no symptoms or problems. He did sprain his ankle
on his other leg and we have been focusing on that injury in rehab.
He is currently doing preventive strength training on his knee at
least one day per week. |

| 9/27/02- Scafidi Returns
3 Weeks After Surgery |
| Nick Scafidi returns to full practice today and is expected to
play tomorrow in the game against Kean University. He returns exactly
three weeks after arthroscopic surgery for a lateral meniscal tear.
He had a limited practice with the team on Wednesday and has accelerated
through his rehabilitation process. He will continue rehab 3 days/
week on a preventive basis. |

| 9/24/02- Scafidi Passes
Functional Test |
| On Monday 9/23 Nick ran 1 mile without any pain or symptoms on
grass. He traveled with the team to an away tournatment over the
weekend and worked on his hopping program and shooting/ dribbling
drills. Today Nick passed a functional test of sprinting, cutting,
and jumping. He will now begin a gradual return to full practice
with the team. His rehab has proceeded exceptionally well at just
over two weeks post surgery. |

| 9/20/02- Scafidi Begins
Stationary Hopping |
| We attempted a 5 minute jog with Nick on Thursday 9/19. During
the run he developed some lateral knee pain. He concluded the remainder
of his rehab without any additional problems. We decided on Friday
to hold off on any additional running until after the weekend. We
began stationary front/ back and side/ side hopping in place of
the jogging. Nick continues his strength training, stationary/bike,
and ROM and proprioception work daily. |
| |
| 9/16/02- Scafidi Continues
to Progress |
Nick
returned to Dr. Zuck on Thursday 9/12 and he is no longer wearing
a knee brace. He has progressed to doing the leg press, knee extension,
hamstring curl, hip adduction, and hip abduction in the weight room.
He is also biking and doing the stairmaster. We expect Nick to continue
rehab 5 days/ week until he returns. |

| 9/9/02- Scafidi Begins
Rehab |
| Nick had a partial lateral menisectomy on 9/6/02. He reported
to the athletic training room on Monday 9/9 and demonstrated a good
quad contraction, full extension and knee flexion to 90 degrees.
He began rehab that included Range of Motion (ROM) exercises, quad
strengthening, and 1/4 squats. He began walking without crutches
on Monday in his brace. By Tuesday his flexion returned to normal.
His rehab progressed to include stationary biking and hamstring
strengthening and balance/ proprioception work. |

| 8/29/02- Scafidi Injures
Knee |
During
practice on 8/20/02 Nick injured his knee and began to have pain
on the lateral aspect of the area. He was unsure of the exact mechanism
of injury. He continued to play on the injury and it gradually worsened.
He reported the injury on 8/24/02 to the Stockton Athletic Training
Staff. A lateral meniscal injury was suspected and Nick was removed
from participation. He saw Dr. Glenn Zuck, DO from Pace Orthopedics
in Somers Point on 8/28. He was diagnosed with a meniscal tear and
arthroscopic surgery was scheduled on Friday 9/6. His MRI confirmed
this diagnosis. |
