Gasko Set to Return from Shoulder Surgery
Jamie
Gasko is a junior pitcher for the Osprey’s softball team.
Jamie had a standout season in 2010, playing in 19 games and pitching
107.2 innings as a sophomore. She was had a record of 12-4, while
holding a 1.95 ERA for the season. After the spring of 2010, Jamie
injured her right pitching shoulder. She sustained a SLAP tear,
which required surgery. Due to her rehabilitation protocol, Jamie
missed her fall season.
She began rehab with us in September of 2010, where we focused
on fostering the healing process and restoring her active range
of motion. Throughout the fall semester, we altered her rehabilitation
program to advance her to strengthening and proprioceptive exercises.
By January of 2011, Jamie was ready to start throwing again. We
began a throwing program which entailed periods of progressive
overhead and underhand throwing. We also worked in a hitting program
since Jamie may see time as a designated hitter.
Jamie has completed 32 rehabilitation sessions since September
to get her shoulder ready for softball. In March of 2011, she
is scheduled to make appearances in the spring training trip to
Fort Myers, FL. However, she is not expected to return to the
mound until the team returns from their Florida trip.
