Muchanic Returns From Major
Ankle Injury
Ian
Muchanic is a senior defensemen for the Ospreys' lacrosse team.
During the 2008 season, he suffered what was initially diagnosed
as an eversion ankle sprain and later a significant posterior
tibialis tendon strain that caused him to miss the last half of
the season (although he did return partially for their playoff
game in May). Ian did rehab with us in April of 2008 until the
end of the spring season. He was placed in an Arizona Brace for
the summer and was withheld from running and sports.
Ian started back up with rehab in September and gradually returned
to full participation during the fall season. He has been diligently
working to return to the field. He has increased his range of
motion, overall ankle strength, and has been able to complete
functional testing without any pain or problems. Lacrosse began
their preseason on February 2nd. "Ian has done an excellent
job with his rehab and we expect him back at his pre injury level
this season", commented Jon Heck, MS, ATC, Associate Director
of Athletics and Recreation.
