Ronika Eckart fractured her left ankle when she was involved in
a fall while practicing the hurdles on 2/19/08. She fractured
her left fibula just above the malleolus. The injury will cause
her to miss the NJAC Championships on Monday. Eckart also had
qualified for the ECAC's and provisionally for the NCAA Championships
in the long jump with a distance of 17' 10". She also qualified
for the ECAC's in the 55m hurdles. The injury will not require
surgery but her ankle will be casted for 3-6 weeks. The injury
also puts her outdoor track season in jeopardy. "Ronicka
is going to need 3-4 weeks of rehab after she gets out of the
cast before she'll be ready to start competing again." commented
Jessica Spencer, MA, ATC, Athletic Trainer. Eckart is also the
Stockton College record holder in the outdoor 100m hurdles.
