Burkart Returns from Knee Surgery
in Three Weeks
Amanda
Burkart injured her knee during the summer while playing volleyball.
She was diagnosed with a meniscal tear of her right knee and had
arthroscopic surgery for this injury on August 21st, 2007. She
began rehad with the Stockton Athletic Training staff on 8/27.
She came in 4-5 days per week. "We didn't really do anything
special with Amanda, her knee recovered very quickly and she progressed
ahead of schedule." commented Jon Heck, Coordinator of Athletic
Training. She was cleared to play in her first match on 9/15/07,
but was limited to 1 match in the tournament that day to see how
her knee would respond. She had 23 kills in her return and had
no problems with her knee. She has led Stockton to two additional
conference wins against Rutgers-Camden and Rampapo, recording
18 kills in each match. Burkart was a first team NJAC All-Conference
in 2006 and second in the NJAC in kills.
