Welcome to the Richard Stockton College Literature Research Classes' Annotation Project on Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. This web site was made available through the combined effort from the students of two Literature Research Classes taught by Professors Kinsella and Gussman. Each student was given a piece of the project to work on from writing an essay, to annotating a stanza from the poem to the text and design of this web site. Kinsella's class annotated the first twenty stanza's of "Song of Myself." The essays consist of Whitman's biography, details of his other works, and the history of other Transcendentalists writing during the same time period. Text and design was done by Alika Pridgeon. Gussman's class annotated stanzas twenty-one through forty-one, along with stanzas one through three from "Great are the Myths." The essays consist of the Preface, the Publication History, and the Trends of poetry during the 1850s. Text and design was done by Nick Roehnert.
