Ambition, Grandeur, etc. -- Modern readers have suggested that the capitalization of these abstract terms, and their sentence-level use, lends personification to the ideas. Yes, but I wouldn't suggest that the terms become allegorical. I would argue they clearly refer to another sort of men, other than the rude Forefathers. This is ambition and grandeur of the proud, class-conscious upper classes.
